Everything you add — book title, author, full text, readings, hypotheses, confidence levels and evidence lines — is saved locally on your iPhone using UserDefaults. Nothing is uploaded, synced or backed up by NarraDive. If you delete the app, that library goes with it.
They're plain counts run over the text you added, entirely on your device. Tensions count long sentences (over 25 words) as a proxy for dense, charged prose. Echoes count words longer than four letters that repeat three or more times. Silences count short paragraphs (under 15 words) as structural breaks. None of it is AI interpretation — it's arithmetic on your own text.
No. Insights only surfaces structural signal — counts, repeated words, paragraph shapes. The Readings you build, with their hypothesis, confidence percentage and evidence lines, are entirely yours. NarraDive never generates or suggests an interpretation for you.
It scans your text for capitalized words that aren't at the start of a sentence, are at least three letters long, and aren't common words — then lists each as a chip with how many times it appears. It's a simple, literal pass over your own text, not a database of characters.
Yes. Settings has two separate resets: Clear all readings removes only your interpretations and keeps your books, while Clear library deletes the books themselves along with everything built on them. Each asks for confirmation before it does anything.
No. NarraDive makes no network requests at all — there's nothing to connect to. Every screen, including all of the text analysis, works the same with the device in airplane mode.
